Letter: Muslims and tolerance

In the Koran, Surah 42, it states in two places that those who worship
gods other than Allah will receive their retribution only from Allah;
and that this is not from Muhammad. Let alone his distant followers.
A fortiori, no Muslim is allowed to claim the right to exact retribution
from other Muslims, who worship no other god but Allah.
Indeed, it is stated in the same Surah (verse 40): “The reward for a
wrong is a wrong the like thereof; but whoever forgives and offers
reconciliation, his reward is with Allah. Verily, He disapproves of
oppressors.”
