Only KPK can fight corruption: Survey

JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is regarded as the only institution with the integrity to combat graft, a recent survey by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) showed.
A report on the survey released Sunday said three other institutions — the police, prosecutors and courts — all had poor reputations.
The LSI surveyed 1,824 respondents between Oct. 10 and 20 across Indonesia for the study.
“The KPK scored 15 out of 100, the police got -18.3, while prosecutors and courts received -17.6 and -15,” LSI researcher Burhanuddin Muhtadi was quoted as saying Sunday by news portal kompas.com.
Police, prosecutors and courts failed to prevent their officers from committing corruption and bowing to political and business pressures. —JP
