Around 100 members of the Liberation Student Movement marched from Al
Markaz Al Islami to a flyover in the South Sulawesi capital of Makassar
on Friday to express their opposition to the planned visit of US
President Barack Obama to Indonesia next week.
Your comments:
A good relationship with the US would help this country more than you
are willing to accept. Stop shouting words everybody has heard the last
50 years! Stop burning flags and pictures! This is degrading – not for
President Obama, but for you as supposed intellectuals!

So, you do not want to welcome the US president? I do not mean to
belittle brave national heroes, and yet we must not forget that it was
the US who dropped the atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki that
resulted in the Japanese surrendering unconditionally.
That means the Japanese had to leave the places they occupied, including
Indonesia. So, Indonesian people owe the US for their independence. The
US has been one of the most, if not the most, generous country. Who gave
the most to the tsunami victims? Be fair, the numbers don’t lie.
You took in big donations and now instead of thanking the US you want to
kick the US in the teeth? Remember, the US was not only the most
generous during the tsunami, but also one of the first countries to send
equipment to help the victims.
