National Police detective chief Comr. Gen. Ito Sumardi has confirmed that graft
suspect Gayus Tambunan used a false name to travel to Bali last week.
“Yes, Gayus went to Bali under a false name,” he said on Wednesday as quoted by
Kompas.com.
Ito said Gayus was accompanied by his wife and children, who traveled using
their real names.
The police, he said, were still investigating the case.
National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. I Ketut Untung Yoga Ana previously said
Gayus had been named a suspect in a bribery scandal stemming from his
unauthorized absences from the Mobile
Brigade detention center in Kelapa Dua, Depok.
Nine police officers, including former detention center chief Comr. Iwan
Siswanto, have been suspended and detained in connection with the case.
