Bogor to demolish 52 villas

BOGOR: The Bogor Regency administration has vowed to demolish villas and weekend homes in Megamendung district starting next year.

Chief of the Bogor Public Order Agency Dace Supriadi said that 52 villas and weekend homes would be demolished because their owners had violated bylways on green areas and some were constructed on government-owned land.

“Those buildings either lie on state land, have been constructed without building permit or are on green areas,” Dace said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

Dace said his agency would inform the owners of the buildings before demolishing them.

“If any of the buildings are considered to be public facilities, we may not demolish them. But, we will get tough if they are used for private or commercial enterprises,” he said.

Dace said the Public Order Agency had planned to demolish the buildings earlier this year, but funding constraints had forced them to delay the operation. — JP
