House to mark international day on women

The House of Representatives (DPR) will mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on Nov. 25.

"In this year's commemoration, [the House] reaffirms our commitment to become an anchor in the national partnership to combat violence against women in Indonesia," Speaker Marzuki Alie told a plenary House meeting.

He added that the House had a critical role in forming partnerships with the government, private sector and public to eliminate violence aimed at women.

Legislators then signed a banner supporting the day. (gzl)
