Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leaders plan to meet with National Police chief Gen. Timur Pradopo at 3 p.m. today.
The meeting is a courtesy call for the new police chief, KPK deputy chairman Bibit Samad Rianto said on Monday.
The KPK also plans to discuss the investigation of graft suspect Gayus Halomoan Tambunan that is currently in the spotlight.
“Yes, the discussion will include that issue,” KPK spokesperson Johan Budi said, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
The KPK is thinking of investigating the Gayus scandal on its own, Bibit said last week.
“We will take over the case [from the police and the Attorney General’s Office] if they are not capable of resolving the case,” Bibit said.
Gayus made headlines after he managed to leave his cell at the Kelapa Dua detention center in Depok, West Java, to vacation in Bali. Police have named nine officers on duty at the time as suspects, allegedly bribed by Gayus.
The meeting will be held at National Police headquarters, Johan said.
