Bambang Widjojanto, one of two candidates vying for one spot on the antigraft body’s leadership, spoke about how he would kick start the nation’s antigraft drive if chosen, during a personality test before the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

Bambang said that if he were elected leader of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), he would formulate a plan of action, work with other law enforcement agencies, and conduct an internal
review of the KPK.

“We have the data [for the roadmap] from the BPK [Supreme Audit Agency], the KPK, the Attorney General’s Office and the police. We can make a road map and decide on focuses and priorities,” he said, as quoted by Kompas.com.

He said he would make a list of high-profile cases and announce the progress of those cases to the public.
“If possible, we will inform about any weaknesses in those cases so the public can support them and [the cases] will be able to be taken to court soon,” Bambang said.

Bambang is a human rights activist and a former Legal Aid Foundation Board chairman.

On the same day, the House also interviewed Busyro Muqodas, the current chairman of the Judicial Commission and a PP Muhammadiyah adviser, for the same position.

The post has been vacant since former KPK chief Antasari Azhar was sentenced to 18 years in prison for masterminding the murder of businessman Nasrudin Zulkarnaen in March, 2009.

The commission is scheduled on Thursday to select one person to lead the KPK from a number of candidates, including the commission’s current leadership, consisting of M Jasin, Haryono, Bibit S Rianto, Chandra M Hamzah, and one of the two new nominees tested Wednesday.
