JAKARTA: The Central Jakarta administration began offering administrative services at night in an attempt to encourage residents to keep their documents in order.

The services began on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 12.30 a.m. at the RW 01 community unit on Jl. Pembangunan I in Central Jakarta.

During the first night, more than 1,000 people used the opportunity to process their identity cards, family cards, family planning services and renew their driving licenses.

Most residents said they did not have time to process the documents in the day because they were busy at work.

“Usually the night service only deals with identity card and family card registrations, but in Petojo Utara, people can register other documents such as boarding house permit, poultry certifications and even driving licenses. I hope we can expand the service,” Central Jakarta Mayor Syaifullah was quoted as saying Thursday by news portal beritajakarta.com.

North Petojo subdistrict head Andre Ferdian said more residents came at night. “Only around 50 people came to the subdistrict office in the daytime.” —JP
