DENPASAR: The Denpasar administration allocated Rp 395 billion, or 36.8 percent of its 2011 regional budget of Rp 975 billion, to education.
Mayor IB Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra told city councilors Wednesday that education had become a priority in the city’s attempts to produce skilled job seekers and to alleviate poverty.
“Education is our main concern and we have allocated 36.8 percent of our budget to it, well above the 20 percent requirement,” the mayor said.
Mantra added that Denpasar also targeted to increase regional revenue by 25 percent from Rp 213 billion in 2010 to Rp 287 billion in 2011, or 32 percent of its budget. —JP
