AGO to question Cirus again

The Attorney General’s Office’s supervisory body will interrogate prosecutors Cirus Sinaga and Fadil Regan following their “bizarre” testimonies at the trial of graft suspect Gayus Tambunan.

“We will question them again after the dossier on the case of falsification of court documents is complete,” junior attorney general for supervision Marwan Effendy said Friday.

Cirus and Fadil have been questioned by the AGO over their alleged involvement in the Gayus case. Gayus has admitted to having bribed law enforcement officials, including Cirus and Fadil, to escape punishment for his crimes.

Marwan said that in their testimonies at the South Jakarta District Court, Cirus and Fadil gave bizarre statements regarding the handling of the Gayus case.

Cirus made a mistake when he charged Gayus, who illegally amassed billions of rupiah in his bank accounts, with embezzlement, Marwan said. “He should have been charged with corruption because he’s a state official,” he said.
