The South Jakarta District Court will be presented with graft suspect Gayus Tambunan bank statements at his trial session on Monday, Gayus’ attorney Adnan Buyung Nasution said.
"Rp 390 million [US$43,290]was allegedly taken from Gayus’ account. Where is it? It has never been taken to court...if we are critical, [we should ask] was there really that amount of money in the account," Adnan said Monday in Jakarta.
He said that the police’s investigation was "incomplete and not conducted carefully."
The bank should verify how much money was currently in Gayus’ account and where the remainder had went, Adnan said.
The trial was also expected to hear recorded conversations between Gayus and Judicial Taskforce members.
According to Adnan, Gayus is just one small part of Indonesia’s tax corruption problems.
"If you want to open one case, just open them all," Adnan said.
