Govt urged to “Buy Indonesian”

A senior politician wants the government to buy locally made products to bolster Indonesia’s economy.
“Indonesia is better known as a foreign products user - not as a producer. Thus, the government should start protecting local products,” former Regional Representatives Council speaker Ginandjar Kartasasmita said over the weekend as quoted by kompas.com.
State-owned enterprises could be the main buyers of local products without violating the free trade principles of the World Trade Organization, he added.
