President to visit Aceh on Monday

The Presdient will visit Nanggroe Aceh Darusalam on Monday to accept an award, promote tree planting and launch a local health insurance program.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, First Lady Kristiani Herawati Yudhoyono and Youth and Sports Minister Andi Mallarangeng were scheduled to leave Halim Perdanakusuma Airport at 10 a.m. and arrive at Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport in Aceh around noon.

The “Peace Chair” award, whose previous recipients include Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf, is given to people who have contributed to the peace process in Aceh.

The president is scheduled to open the Wirakarya National Camp at the Sulawah Camping Ground, Muara Tiga, Pidie, on Tuesday.

More than 2,000 soldiers and police officers would be deployed to secure the President’s visit, as reported by tempointeraktif.com.
