State-owned airline Garuda Indonesia spent approximately Rp1.6 billion (US$177,600) on reimbursements to passengers after last week’s technical disaster.

“The losses [from reimbursements] have not been completely tallied yet, but it is around Rp.1.6 billion for the hotel accommodation and transportation that we covered for our passengers,” Garuda’s chief financial officer Elisa Lombatoruan said on Tuesday.

A Garuda Indonesia computer glitch on Nov. 21 caused flight schedule chaos, ending in delays and the cancellation of numerous flights. (gzl)
