Busway clearance yields fewer accidents

JAKARTA: TransJakarta Busway operator reported on Wednesday that there had been fewer bus-related accidents in the months following an operation to keep private cars out of the busway lanes.
TransJakarta Busway control manager Gunarjo said the company recorded fewer accidents in the period after the campaign, starting in August. In July, the management recorded 23 accidents with two fatalities and 13 injuries. In August, 19 accidents occurred with two fatalities and eight injuries.
In September, it recorded 21 accidents and 18 accidents in October.
The campaign, in which policemen and officers from the City Transportation Agency were deployed, involved four Busway corridors. — JP
