Former president Megawati Soekarnoputri received a lifetime achievement award from the International Conference of Asian Politics Parties (ICAPP) in Cambodia on Thursday.
Megawati was called a “tough and strong political leader” who successfully led Indonesia’s democratic transition through direct presidential elections.
The former president was presented with the award by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, who bestowed a similar honor to Filipino President Fidel Ramos, according to Antara news agency.
Eighty-five political parties from more than 35 Asian countries were expected to participate in ICAPP.
