No change in benchmark rate: BI

Bank Indonesia (BI) announced Friday it would maintain its key interest rate at
6.5 percent for the 17th consecutive month.
The rate was "in line with inflation targets", despite high inflation
in November, BI’s board of governors said in a statement on Friday.
"Inflationary pressures were mostly due to volatile foods, while core
inflation remained manageable," the statement said.
The central bank has kept the benchmark interest rate at a record-low since
August 2009 to boost lending and economic growth in Southeast Asia's biggest
economy. (est)
