In an attempt to improve public service as mandated by the 2009 law on mass transportation, the Tangerang municipal administration will operate a bus lane that will service mass transportation from Poris Plawad bus terminal in Tangerang municipality to Kalidres bus terminal in West Jakarta beginning early next year.
“Based on our recent field survey, the preparation for the mass transport service is 95 percent complete,” municipal transportation agency chief Fathulahadi told The Jakarta Post Friday.
The agency had proposed to the Ministry of Transportation as many as 25 buses to serve the 10 kilometer route from Poris to Kalideres, but has not yet received word on how many buses will be provided.
The municipal administration had spent Rp 2.1 billion (US$236,000) from the 2010 budget to build bus lanes along Jl. Daan Mogot and Jl. Sudirman connecting the Poris Plawad terminal, and another Rp 3.6 billion to build a 2,000 square meter park-and-ride facility at the Poris terminal.
