For most fashionistas, any changes in fashion trends not only mean they have to adapt their outfits but also their makeup as well.

When it comes to beauty and style, makeup plays an important role. Normally, new makeup products are made available at a certain time of the year. Thus, fashionistas, especially women, can explore the colors more.

Upcoming makeup trends come in a myriad of colors in which each has the power to bring out a woman’s natural beauty or even create a specific character.

Among all cosmetics products, eye shadow is still the most preferred by makeup artists. They say it is needed to boost the eyes, which are the focus of the face.

For the rest of winter, major Japanese cosmetics producer Shiseido offers various eye makeup colors for fashionistas to play with and express themselves in a range of hues, from warm or neutral colors like brown, beige, orange and gray to bright shades like yellow, pink and green.

Shisedo makeup artist Seitaro Miyazaki recently demonstrated how to apply Shisedo’s latest eye shadow offerings.

He first applied yellowish eye shadow to the eyelid as a base then swept the darkest shade on the outer corner of the eyes and above the lid line before using blue as a highlight under the brow.

Gold, beige, orange, gray and white are most suitable for Indonesians with tanned skin as the colors will help brighten the complexion.

“Those who have light skin can experience more with brighter colors such as yellow, pink and green,” said Miyazaki.

“Don’t forget to apply eyeliner to enlarge the eyes. Brown eyeliner will provide a natural look, while black will give a strong character to those who use it.”

In terms of look for the eyes, you can choose either soft or smoky eyes, depending on the occasion.
For partying, you can opt for timeless smoky eyes to give a dramatic, glamorous yet sexy look, while for working, it is better to apply soft eye makeup.

“You can still apply the smoky-eye effect for work, but you need to tone it down so it is not too heavy,” he recommended.

Meantime, bright eyes are likely to be one of the hottest makeup trends for 2011, and are apparent in the latest trends revealed recently by local cosmetics producer Sariayu Martha Tilaar.

Eye makeup in vibrant shades is definitely for women who dare to experiment with style and new colors and want to stand out in a crowd.

Fret about whether the eye-popping shades suit your skin color? No need to worry, because bright eye makeup is applicable and suits any skin tone and eye shape. Here is a tip: choose the right eye makeup techniques and hues that suit the color of your eyes.

Sariayu Martha Tilaar, one of the biggest local cosmetics producers, offers a series of bright eyes makeup in its 2011 makeup range launched recently.

The cosmetics producer has regularly launched new makeup ranges since 1987 with its debut makeup range titled Senja di Sriwedari (Twilight in Sriwedari).

Its 2011 collection, named “Exotic Indonesia: The Color of Asia”, explores the diversity of Indonesian arts and culture in four color trends: Dendang Rebana (The Chanting of Rebana), Petikan Sitar (The Strumming of Sitar), Alun Serunai (Flute’s Wave) and Denting Kecapi (The Clinking of Kecapi). Rebana, sitar, serunai and kecapi are traditional music instruments.

Martha Tilaar, the founder of the cosmetics company, said the core idea of the latest trend was inspired by the assimilation of Indonesian culture with other cultures such those from China, India, Malay and the Middle East.

Dendang Rebana, for instance, comes in shades inspired by the mysterious beauty of the Middle East in a range of colors like green, pink and dark gray, which really suit women with light skin.

Those who have dark skin can opt for Petikan Sitar, which takes its inspiration from the exoticism of India with some choices of earthy hues like orange, peach and brown, while Alun Serunai suits tan skin with its range of colors like yellow, orange and greenish black.

Soft pink, lavender and purple hues are also hot this season and can be seen in the Denting Kecapi series, inspired by oriental beauty.

Even though the upcoming season is centered on the eyes, lips remain an important element for overall makeup trends.

Pink, lavender, fire red and nude lipstick are the latest colors found among Sariayu’s latest products.

You might often see models with red lips and smoky eyes on runways or glossy magazines, but remember that such a combination is only suitable for evening occasions.

Focus on one part, never both. During the day, you can play more with your eyes and go for a natural shade on the lips.

If you choose yellowish shades of Alun Serunai, for instance, you can opt for nude lipstick, which will make your eyes stand out, while if you want to go super glam, you can pair warm eye shadow colors with fire red lipstick.

The most essential thing is no matter how striking the colors of your makeup products, you need to keep in mind that it takes a perfect skin condition to get a perfect yet subtle makeup finish.

Makeup will look fabulous on your skin once you have a clean and healthy skin. So, ladies, what are you waiting for? Get ready to dazzle with bright eye makeup this season.
