AKARTA: Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia announced Sunday that it is resuming flights connecting Jakarta with Malang, East Java.
Garuda diverted the flights to East Java provincial capital Surabaya from Tuesday to Saturday due to volcanic activity at Mt. Bromo,
near Malang.
“The latest Notification to airmen [NOTAM] declared Malang’s Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport has been reopened following better conditions around Mt. Bromo,” Garuda vice president of communications Pujobroto said in a media statement Sunday.
“Garuda resumed Jakarta-Malang flights on Sunday that had previously been diverted temporarily to Surabaya.”
Meanwhile, starting Jan. 1, Garuda will add another flight serving Malang making it a twice daily service. — JP
