Authorities
lowered the warning status of Mount Bromo to its second-highest level on Monday.
“After the last five days of observation,
we have observed a significant decline in volcanic activity at Mount Bromo.
Thus, we lowered its status from ‘danger’ to ‘alert’,” Volcanology and
Geological Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG) monitoring chief Agus
Budianto said as reported by Antara news service.
The PVMBG elevated the warning status for Mt. Bromo to “danger”
in November after activity of the East Java volcano suddenly increased.
