Disabled children show off talents

DENPASAR: Dozens of children with physical disabilities mesmerized local spectators with extraordinary arts performances held to commemorate International Day for the Disabled at Puputan Public Park over the weekend.

Some children performed traditional Balinese dance Gong Kebyar, while another group showed off their musical talent in front of Denpasar Mayor IB Dharmawijaya Mantra, officials, parents and the public.

Ketut Masir, chairman of the organizing committee, said the children’s performances were aimed at increasing their self-confidence and independence.

“The commemorative events ranged from performing arts, bazaars, art exhibitions, sports competitions and other educational activities,” he said. — JP
