Govt, House to talk about fuel subsidy restriction

The government and the House of Representatives are scheduled to meet on Thursday over a plan to restrict the fuel subsidy next year.

The government said in a press release that private car owners would be banned from using subsidized fuel.

Earlier on Wednesday, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister secretary-general Waryono Karno called on people who could afford regular fuel prices to stop using subsidized fuel.

“Subsidized fuel is only for the poor,” he said as quoted by Kompas.com.
