International Corruption Day to see 20 rallies in Jakarta

There will be 20 rallies in
Jakarta today, most relating to International Corruption Day.
A rally was scheduled to start from 8 a.m. at
Hotel Indonesia traffic circle. Four rallies would follow in front of City
Hall, the Jakarta Legislative Council building, the Presidential Palace, and
the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) office.
Eight different groups said they planned to
protest in front of the KPK building at 10 a.m., and two others at 11 a.m.
An anticorruption carnival will start from the
KPK office on Jl. HR Rasuna Said, travel along Jl. Gatot Subroto, Jl. Dr.
Saharjo, before going to Manggarai, then Pasar Rumput, and then returning to
the KPK office.
Three different groups announced they would hold
separate rallies in front of the Attorney General's Office at 10 a.m. and 1
p.m.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. a rally would be held in
front of the National Education Ministry office and another at the People’s
Republic of China Embassy.
At 10 a.m. a protest was to be held at the
Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Ministry.
Most of the rallies were schedule to end at 5
p.m. The Jakarta Police traffic management center (TMC) has warned the public
of traffic congestion.
