Abu Tholut aka Mustofa, the most wanted terrorist suspect rounded by national anti-terror elite unit Densus 88 in Bae district, Kudus, Central Java, was known by neighbors by his other alias, Imron Baihaki.

Zudar, 41, one of the eyewitnesses, said that he saw officers kick the bathroom door after Abu's wife, Fat, claimed that her husband was not at home when asked.

“Pak Imron apparently hid inside the bathroom since I heard gunfire after policemen broke into the bathroom,” Zudar said.

“I did not witness the details since police told me to stay inside my house. But, I saw police half-dragging him to a van, [and I  saw] his forehead and leg bleeding,” he told The Jakarta Post.

He added that the officers also searched the house, but he could not say what they were after.

Police have seized a Belgium-made 9 millimeter FN handgun and 22 bullets in the arrest of top terrorist suspect Abu Tholut, National Police deputy spokesman Brig. Gen. I Ketut Untung Yoga Ana says.

Neighborhood unit head Suwarto said Abu was arrested at 8:30 a.m. by a team of squad riding three vans and several motorcycles.

Suwarto said that Abu had not been seen in his wife's house for a year.

“Since 2007 until now, he was never willing to renew his civil registration document so that his family has no family card,” Suwarto said.

Abu Tholut was released from prison in 2007 after serving less than four years for involvement in a 2001 bomb attack at Atrium Mall in Central Jakarta.

Police recently said Abu helped set up a militant training camp for the homegrown terror cell Jamaah Anshorut Tauhid in the westernmost Aceh province that was uncovered by police in February.

He is also accused of helping recruit members and raising money for the group, which was allegedly plotting assassinations, including of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, to punish the state for lending support to the US-led war on terrorism.

Abu was put back on the police’s wanted list for his alleged involvement in a series of terrorist attacks, including the armed robbery of a CIMB Niaga bank in North Sumatra in August.
