The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detained Friday PT Altelindo commissioner Georgie Kumaat for his involvement in a procurement case of the Lampung branch of state electricity company PT PLN from 2003 to 2008.
Georgie, who was named suspect in July, was detained right after he underwent a two-and-half-year KPK questioning and took to the Salemba detention center.
“The 20-day custody is imposed to make the investigation easier,” KPK spokesman Johan Budi told reporters.
Georgie was charged for enriching himself using his company in relation to the outsourcing of a consumer information system at Lampung State Electricity. His wrongdoing cost the state a loss of Rp 42.32 billion (US$ 4.7 million).
“There was also indication of mark-up,” Johan added.
Johan said Georgie was also charged for involvement in another procurement case at the East Java branch of the state electricity company. His action cost the state a loss of Rp 170 billion.
He was also believed to have bribed both former general manager of the Lampung branch of PT PLN, Budi Harsono and the former general manager of the East Java branch, Hariadi Sadono. (ipa)
