National Police chief Gen.Timur Pradopo confirms that Mustofa or Abu Tholat has been arrested at Bae Pondok village, Bae District, Kudus, Central Java, on Friday.

At first Timur only mentioned the initial "AT" but then he confirmed it was Abu Tholut.

However, he did not explain the details on who Tholut was and what the reasons were behind the arrest.

Central Java police spokesman Sr. Comr. Djihartono said Tholut was with his wife when he was arrested.

Previously, police had seized a Belgium-made 9 millimeter FN handgun and 22 bullets in the arrest of top terrorist suspect Abu Tholut.

Abu Tholut was released from prison in 2007 after serving less than four years after being found guilty of engaging in terrorism.

The 48-year-old is a former instructor of the Jamaah Islamiyah military camp, and later established military training camps in the Philippines and in the Aceh regency of Jantho.

Tholut was put back on the police’s wanted list for his alleged involvement in a series of terrorist attacks, including the armed robbery of a CIMB Niaga bank in North Sumatra in August.
