Police to escort rallies in Yogya

The
Yogyakarta Police has appointed large numbers of personnel to escort mass
rallies that will start from North Alun-Alun and the Yogyakarta Regional
Legislative Council office on Monday.
The plan
is to escort protesters to 18 rally areas.
Among the
18 points are tourist destination areas such as Beringharjo Market, Kepatihan,
the Legislative Council and Malioboro Mall.
Yogyakarta
Police Deputy chief Comr. Sutjipto added that police personnel did not carry
shields or weapons.
"This
is because today's action is conducive and safe. We will coordinate with the
community by persuasion," he said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
However,
Sutjipto added that three armored vehicles were prepared to secure the
legislators of Yogyakarta to anticipate any undesirable situations.
