The Yogyakarta Police has appointed large numbers of personnel to escort mass rallies that will start from North Alun-Alun and the Yogyakarta Regional Legislative Council office on Monday.

The plan is to escort protesters to 18 rally areas.

Among the 18 points are tourist destination areas such as Beringharjo Market, Kepatihan, the Legislative Council and Malioboro Mall.

Yogyakarta Police Deputy chief Comr. Sutjipto added that police personnel did not carry shields or weapons.

"This is because today's action is conducive and safe. We will coordinate with the community by persuasion," he said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

However, Sutjipto added that three armored vehicles were prepared to secure the legislators of Yogyakarta to anticipate any undesirable situations.
