S. Tangerang candidates may file fraud report

TANGERANG: After the Constitutional Court annulled the results of South Tangerang’s first mayoral election, one losing campaign says it may file a new report with the police alleging electoral fraud.

An attorney for the Arsyid-Andre Endang Hardian campaign alleged that a several South Tangerang administration officials illegally influenced the election’s result.

“These are criminal offenses, and we are collecting evidence before we file a report with the Jakarta Police,” he said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com news portal on Sunday.

Endang previously alleged that there had been a systematic effort to disrupt the election involving government officials, from the municipal level down to the neighborhood units.

“Some of them are senior officials at the municipal level or the heads of subdistricts,” he said. — JP
