GIANYAR: Torrential rains on Sunday afternoon triggered a minor flash flood in the resort island’s cultural town, Ubud.
Dozens of foreign visitors took shelter in souvenirs shops in the Ubud market as water streamed out of nearby sewers and flooded the main road between the market and Ubud’s royal palace.
The flood was 30 centimeters high and had a strong current, according to witnesses.
“This was the first time I have ever seen downtown Ubud suffering from a flood. Before, there used to be floods only on the outskirts of Ubud, like on Jl. Andong,” Ubud resident Tjokorda Agung Pramitha Krisna Dalem said. — JP
