Constitutional Court justice urged to step down

Constitutional Court justice Arsyad Sanusi is being urged to leave his post for allegedly breaking the court's “code of ethics”.
State administrative law expert Chalid Hamid said Arsyad’s daughter had met with a plaintiff who had filed a case at the court. He said this showed Arysad had violated the code of ethics.
“This is obviously against the code of ethics. To maintain the integrity of the justices, it is better that Arsyad leave his position,” Chalid said as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com.
He said the Constitutional Court was the only other law enforcement institution in Indonesia apart from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) that the public still trusted.
“If one of these institutions is tainted by unethical actions, the public will have nothing to rely on,” Chalid said.
The same demand for Arsyad to resign also come from the Indonesian Judiciary Supervisory Community, which said Arsyad had been “unable” to prevent a conflict of interest between the plaintiffs and his family.
