Vice President Boediono says that the best approach to
maintain the country's sovereignty is through the improvement of people's
welfare.
Speaking during his visit to Indonesia’s border on Sebatik
Island in East Kalimantan, Boediono said that people living in border areas
would help the government to maintain the country's sovereignty should they
prosper.
“Of course, the military and police will still be in charge
in sovereignty's last defense,” he said.
“I believe that we can work together to preserve Indonesia’s
sovereignty,” Boediono continued as quoted by Antara.
In the visit, Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto, Defense
Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Fadel Muhammad
and Deputy National Education Minister Fasli Djalal accompanied the Vice
President.
