National Police chief Gen. Timur Pradopo said Tuesday it had been discovered that terrorists had changed their modus operandi.

“Terrorists have been shifting to criminal acts to raise money to fund their military training instead of launching suicide bombings as in the past,” Timur was quoted by tempointeraktif.com as saying Tuesday.

He was referring to the activities of terrorist suspect Abu Tholut and his group.

Police rounded up terrorist suspect Abu Tholut, who was on the most wanted list and believed to be the leader of a terrorist group behind military training in Jantho, Aceh Besar. Police also captured at least four accomplices in several arrests across the archipelago.

Timur voiced hope that the arrest of Abu Tholut and his group would help police investigators find new operational patterns and the method being used by the terrorist group.
