Legislators are urging the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to shed light on the Bank Century bailout scandal, saying the commission played a key role in the investigation into the case but produced no results.

House speaker Pramono Anung said the commission was the key to solving the case.

However, he added, the commission had not found any indication of corruption in the case.

"The main part in this case is connected to the crime of corruption," he said, adding that the priority next year would be to find indications of corruption.

"I hope that with the new leadership in the KPK, and the will of the House of Representatives, the case can truly be resolved," he added.

The House selected Busyro Muqoddas as the new chairman of the KPK last month.

The head of the Bank Century case supervisory team, Mahfudz Siddiq, said the commission had not submitted the reports about the the 137 people the commission questioned in connection with the case.

The team recommended in their report that the commission, as well as the police and state prosecutors resolve the case immediately.

The KPK had questioned 137 people in their investigation, including people from Bank Century and the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), as of November 19. (gzl)
