JAKARTA: The Indonesian Embassy for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Abu Dhabi in cooperation with the Culture and Tourism Ministry launched “Indonesia Tourism Investment Opportunities” at Sheraton Corniche Hotel in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, this week.

With this event, the government hopes to lure more investment from the Middle East countries, especially the UAE.

Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE, Mohammad Wahid Supriyadi, said that UAE’s current investment in Indonesia concentrated in mining, shipping and communication.

Wahid was quoted by Antara as saying that Indonesia should tap into other business potentials, including tourism.

Every year, 7 million foreign tourists visit Indonesia every year, but tourists from the UAE only account for 5,000. — JP
