Bank Indonesia (BI) is not involved in the recent allegations on bribery in the deliberation of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) draft bill, governor Darmin Nasution says.
Darmin said Friday that it was a group of people who was involved, and not BI as an institution.
“We have prepared a letter to be sent formally to the House of Representatives explaining our innocence, as Commission XI has asked for BI’s clarification,” he told reporters at BI offices in Jakarta.
BI and the House discussed Tuesday previous allegations that a central bank staffer bribed the House’s Commission XI Rp 100 billion to smooth out BI-related draft bills, including the OJK, currency and budget.
The Commission XI, denying the allegations, later found that the alleged central bank staffer was Agus Santoso, chairman of the BI employee association, who allegedly plotted the bribery scenario to ease the deliberation of the BI-related draft bills, lawmaker Muhammad Hatta said. (est)
