Ticketing chaos
Dozens
of people waiting to buy Asian Football Federation tickets broke into the Bung
Karno Stadium in Senayan, Jakarta,
on Sunday.
The
hooligans were part of a crowd of thousands that had waited for hours for ticket
sales to start, as reported by tempointeraktif.com on-line news portal.
Chanting
“open up” , the crowd smashed through Gate IV at the stadium and then sang the national
anthem, “Indonesia Raya.”
Police
officers on the scene told the crowd that ticket sales for the Dec. 29 match
would not start if there was disorder.
The
warning cooled the situation temporarily, but the mayhem resumed soon
thereafter.
A
man wearing an Indonesian team tee-shirt reportedly died waiting in line while
others tried to help.
