Official Bromo status unchanged despite increasing activity

The Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center
(PVMBG) has yet to increase the official warning levels for Mount Bromo, despite
it recently spewing lava.
“Blazing lava has erupted at night,” PVMBG chief Gede
Suantika said Thursday, as quoted by Antara
He also said volcanic ash had been expelled up to 2,000
meters into the atmosphere, around 30 millimeters falling over the past 11 days.
However, he added that lava had only been discharged around
the crater to a radius of 100 meters, and had yet to endanger local residents.
