The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has asked all state officials receiving free tickets for matches of the recently-over AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 to report to its gratuity division.
KPK deputy chairman Muhammad Jasin said here Friday free tickets for the soccer matches were part of gratuities, which could be subject to corruption charges as specified on Article 12 of the anti-corruption law.
“Gratuities can be in the forms of discounts, tickets, accommodations, facilities for meetings and others,” Jasin said at his office, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
“We encourage state apparatus and civil servants to report their incomes earned from other sources outside the official remuneration system.”
It was reported earlier that a number of state officials, including those from the Youth and Sports Ministry, the Justice and Human Rights Ministry, the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry, and the Indonesian Military and the National Police, had received free tickets from the Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI), as admitted by PSSI secretary general Nugraha Besoes.
Jasin said he had ordered the director for gratuities at the KPK to gather data regarding the free ticket distribution from the PSSI.
