JAKARTA: Jakarta sanitation crews towed away 1,916 cubic meters of garbage Saturday following the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The amount was almost twice the 1,100 cubic meters following the celebrations in 2009.
Areas left with the most garbage included Jl. Sudirman, Jl. Thamrin and the national monument (Monas), city news portal beritajakarta.com reported.
“The three spots left 676 cubic meters of trash,” agency chief Suhama said.
The City Sanitation Agency deployed 33 trucks, four sweeper vehicles and three re-loader units to manage the garbage, he said. — JP
