Gayus look-alike seen on S’pore flight

JAKARTA: An Air Asia passenger said she saw a man resembling imprisoned graft defendant Gayus H. Tambunan on a flight to Singapore in September.

The passenger, Devina, made the allegation in a letter to Kompas daily newspaper, which then published the letter on Jan. 2.

Devina, who departed for Singapore on Air Asia flight number QZ 7780 on Sept. 30 at 11:20 a.m., wrote that she first spotted the Gayus look-alike in the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport waiting room.

“At that time, a man wearing a wig and glasses entered the room where I was waiting, and then was on the same flight to Singapore,” she said as reported by kompas.com news portal.

She said she did not have courage to take photos of the look-alike since he was very close to her.
Devina was convinced that the man she saw was Gayus after she saw photos of the former low-level tax official in a wig and eyeglasses at a tennis match in Bali.

Gayus later admitted that he had bribed the warden at the Mobile Brigade’s maximum security detention center in Depok to leave his cell more than 60 times.

“Maybe there are authorities who will feel that it is necessary to check into the matter,” Devina wrote. — JP
