Letter: Malaysia’s victory

Malaysia deserved to win. They played much better football than the Indonesian team.
Alfred Riedl still has a lot of hard work ahead of him to elevate the Indonesian football players’ technique and ball handling skills.
Credit should be given to the Indonesian supporters who behaved surprisingly well.
Except for a few minor incidents no serious scuffles were reported and all Indonesian soccer fans left the stadium in an orderly manner except for a number of disappointed people who cried out for the Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI) chairman to step down.
Thumbs up to Muhammad Nasuha and Muhammad Ridwan who scored the only two goals for Indonesia, allowing the team not to lose face while playing in their own backyard.
The picture published in The Jakarta Post of hardcore fans is certainly an eyecatcher. Thanks also to the team of security guards who kept a vigilant eye on hooligans thereby seeing to it that the tense situation did not get out of hand.
