Prosectuors want 5 years for Ariel

Prosecutors demanded that former Peterpan's frontman Ariel be sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for his role in the nation’s most recent Internet sex-video scandal

The sentence demand, which also included a request for a Rp 250 million (US$27,750) fine, was delivered by prosecutor Rusmanto during a closed trial hearing at the Bandung District Court on Thursday.

“From the trial proceedings, the prosecutors can only prove [guilt under] article 29 and article 4 of the Pornography Law,” Rusmanto said after the hearing as quoted by tempointeraktif.com news portal.

Ariel's attorney, OC Kaligis, said that his client’s legal team would respond to the sentence demand at the next trail session, scheduled for Jan. 13.

“We have prepared our statement,” he said.
