President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono officially opened the Indonesian bourse for the first day of trading in 2011, at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) building at 9 a.m. on Monday, accompanied by several economic ministers.
Last year the IDX benchmark Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) was the best performer in the Asia-Pacific region, recording gains of more than 45 percent from 2009.
Your comments:
It is a pity that this success does not translate into any improvement in the lives of the majority of Indonesians.
Of course President SBY and his fellow elites have a personal interest in the performance of the Indonesia Stock Exchange: Like their stomachs, their bank accounts get fatter year after year from the interest on the money they steal.
