Luna Maya returns to showbiz

JP/R. Berto Wedhatama

JAKARTA: Starlet Luna Maya, whose stardom was marred by a leaked sex video in June last year, is making a comeback this year in a sinetron (soap opera) and musical for Indosiar television station.

Luna will star in an MD Entertainment production called Nada Cinta (Love Tune) alongside Dewi Sandra, Randy Pangalila and Mika Tambayong. Luna will play a cheerleading coach, while Dewi will play a music teacher.

Indosiar’s director of program Triandy Suyatman said the sinetron would be one of their top shows.

The cast will also be part of a musical celebrating the station’s 16th anniversary on Jan. 11, Triandy said.

“Luna and other artists will be involved in the musical K1N6 XVI, which will be aired for three hours,” he said as quoted by kompas.com.

Regarding the sex video issue, Triandy said the station was not worried about the matter. “Luna is a free individual. She has the right to work. We don’t see any problem with asking Luna to be involved,” he said.

“We placed the sinetron in a prime time slot, because I’m sure she still has a lot of fans,” Triandy said. For the musical, Luna will play the queen, he added. —JP
