Former president and current Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) chair Megawati Soekarnoputri is hinting that she does not want to run for president in 2014, according to a senior PDI-P official.
PDI-P secretary Bambang Wuryanto told reporters on Sunday that Megawati wanted to see new figures to replace her as candidates.
"Mega said that she is old now. In 2014, she will be 68 years old," Bambang said, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com news portal.
"I think it is a code. She doesn't want to be a presidential candidate," Bambang said.
He said that Mega had conveyed similar sentiments in internal party meetings.
Another senior PDI-P figure, Maruar Sirait, perviously said the party would nominate Megawati as its presidential candidate in 2014.
