The South Tangerang government has
delayed the disbursement of Rp 12.9 billion (US$1.43 million) intended to pay
for an election rerun as the local election commission has not yet submitted an
official request for the funding.
“We have not received any request
from the election commission,” South Tangerang administration treasurer Uus Kusnadi told tempointeraktif.com
on Wednesday.
Uus said the funds
should have been disbursed by Jan 7, 2011.
South Tangerang Election
Commission secretary Azhar Sam’un said that the commission still needed time to
work on the election rerun agenda and to calculate the logistics needs before it
could submit a request for funding.
Azhar said the funds
would be use to printing ballot papers, voter IDs, forms and for distribution.
The Constitutional
Court ordered for the South Tangerang election to be repeated after it found the
election process to have been flawed. The rerun was scheduled to take place on
Feb 27, with the same candidates running as those in the original poll, which
took place on Nov 13, 2010.
The candidate pairs were
Yayat Sudrajat-Norodom Sukarno, Rodiyah Nadjibah-Sulaiman Yasin, Arsyid-Andre
Taulany and Airin Rachmi Diany-Benyamin Davnie.
