Letter: A lot of pressure on children

I refer to “Majority of children think negatively: Government survey,” (Jan. 8).
It’s about kids who go to schools.
They surveyed primary to high school students. I think the problem is
that the parents put a lot of pressure on them since they were little:
“If you don’t do well in class, I’m going to hit you”. Isn’t that what the punishment always is?
There are too many private lessons at home and I do mean literally too
much, a harder curriculum from the government and there is no support
just threats:
“I love you if you get good grades. You disgust me if you don’t get good grades.”
Then there is peer pressure at schools:
“Oh, you are dumb. My mommy told me not to be friends with “dumb”
people. She told me if I hang out with smart people, I’ll become smart.”
Isn’t that the situation in schools these days? From way back then to
now, it is still the same. Smart ones become teachers’ pets. I speak
from experience here.
What’s making it worse is the government is making the curriculum harder.
Can you believe that there’s physics lessons in primary school these days?
