JAKARTA: Mira Lesmana, who produced the Laskar Pelangi (Rainbow Warrior) musical, is aiming to hold the show in July for the children’s school holidays.Mira, who also produced the film Laskar Pelangi, an adaptation of Andrea Hirata’s novel of the same title, said she was proud of her musical’s success.
The musical, which recounts the adventures of knowledge-hungry impoverished children and their teacher in the rural island of Belitung, was held in Taman Ismail Marzuki from Dec. 17 to Jan. 9, and drew 25,000 spectators.
“This [success] is thanks to everyone who supported MLP,” she said as quoted by kompas.com, referring to the acronym for the musical.
The musical was performed 28 times. Mira worked with music arranger Erwin Gutawa and stage director Jay Subiyakto. — JP
